Zinhle Jiyane, the top female DJ in Africa, is getting ready for her much awaited Zed Nation Fest, which will happen on Women’s Day in August.
The Umlilo hitmaker is celebrating 20 years in the music business, so the event is a big milestone for her.
The multi-award-winning DJ highlighted her excitement about the performance, the incredible lineup, and her two-decade history in the music industry in an interview with The Citizen.
According to Zinhle, fans can anticipate a once-in-a-lifetime event that recognises both her extraordinary career and the advancement of women.
dazzling lineup
The biggest musicians from Mzansi, including Morda, Young Stunna, Focalistic, Nadia Nakai, and Kabza De Small, will perform at the event, which will be hosted by Somizi Mhlongo and Moozlie.
According to Zinhle, she chose a lot of her favourite musicians because she wants to create an experience that she will remember.
“I picked my favourite artists or those who have had a significant impact on my life. The fact that I have this kind of lineup truly amazes me.
“Women’s empowerment is the foundation of my whole career.”
She stated that the event’s central theme—women’s empowerment—influenced the choice to have it on Women’s Day.
“I feel like the foundation of my entire career has been women’s empowerment; creating a space for myself and other women, along with my deep passion of developing female DJs, with Era.
“We can see how many female DJs are doing well these days, and I feel like the foundation of everything I’ve done has always been women’s empowerment.” That is why it makes perfect sense to have the event on Women’s Day evening.
Zinhle expressed excitement about the event, although she also acknowledged having doubts about its outcome.
“I was terrified that it wouldn’t work out or that people wouldn’t think it was real, but assembling this lineup has been amazing. Although there are some people I wish were in the lineup but who won’t be accessible that day, I think our lineup is fantastic as it is.
