The management of Makhadzi clarifies the issues with Sars and “mashonisa.”

Social media users have responded differently to an episode of Podcast and Chill where Makhadzi discusses her financial difficulties.

Makhadzi disclosed in the interview that she had to take out a loan in order to travel to Los Angeles, California, for the 19th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards celebration.

She clarified that her continuous attempts to pay off a tax debt owed to the South African Revenue Service (Sars) are the cause of her financial troubles.

She was said to owe Sars a huge R6.6 million tax bill in December of last year.

“Every monthly payment I receive, I send to Sars.” I ultimately run out of money. Thus, I had to travel to Mashonisa (loan shark) in order for me to get to [USA].

Makhadzi remarked, “They had to borrow money for me so that I can travel in business class because, above all else, I have to be the superstar that I am.”

We agreed upon a plan with Sars.
According to Makhadzi’s management, they worked with Sars to negotiate payment after she received her tax bill last year.

“We headed to the negotiation. According to her management, the money was removed, and she has been making monthly payments in accordance with the agreement with Sars.

Mashonisa management: “I’m not aware of it.”
The management, however, claimed to be unaware that Makhadzi needed a loan in order to attend the BET awards.

Reactions on social media
Since then, the Podcast and Chill video has caused a stir on social media, with many users endorsing tax literacy.

“Dudes, we can’t go on like this. It’s time that all artist managers get training on how to comply with tax, or Sars,” declared Mogwere. We cannot continue to act like Mahotela Queens and Mahlathini Queens.

“We need basic tax education,” Negus wrote. Some of us fall prey to Sars because we don’t have the necessary information. provided that she is able to pay them.
