DJ Tira has officially announced that this Friday’s hearing at the High Court will consider his lawsuit against musician Luke Ntombela.
Tira, whose true name is Mthokozi Khathi, gave Ntombela seven days in May to take down the disparaging remarks that had been made about him.
Ntombela asserted that she was blacked out and woke up in Tira’s bed, raising the possibility that he had sexually abused her.
A few days after making the accusations, Ntombela was asked to appear on radio station Ukhozi FM’s Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show, where she spoke candidly about the claims.
Tira said that he chose to go the legal road on DJ Sbu’s The Big Breakfast Show on Radio 2000.
In an interview with DJ Sbu, Tira stated, “Letting the law take its course is the best way to handle this.”
“As I speak to you, the High Court will hear our matter on Friday,” he claimed. He remarked, “You just find yourself under attack from people saying all kinds of things, and you just don’t know what to say.”
Ntombela has accused Tira of other things, including money disputes and music registration issues.
“I will fulfil all obligations owed to me. Ntombela sent Tira a direct message, saying, “I’m not planning to expose you or to ruin your name, well not intentionally. She sent the message’s screenshot to others.
Imithandazo is the song in question, and it was published in 2017. The song can be found on the AfroSummer 17 compilation by Afrotainment. Owner and creator of Afrotainment is Tira.
Effect on Enterprise
While she was with him at the Radio 2000 studios, Tira’s wife Gugu Khathi offered her two cents, stating that Ntombela’s claims against Tira are part of a larger pattern directed at the marriage.
“Over time, it has developed into a trend. We’ve come to realise that whenever we work on a significant project, something always pops up. We’re working on a lot of important projects right now, and three days after we spoke to say this is what we’re going to do, I believe this happened, Gugu said.
“Every time we’re working on a significant project, it seems like something has to pull you back.”
I am well acquainted with Lu [Luke], the sister, and I have no animosity towards her. Gugu remarked, “I was present on the particular day she is referring about.
Speaking off-air with Nathi Ndamase, one of Sbu’s co-hosts of the programme, Gugu stated they decided to take legal action since the accusations were detrimental to their commercial interests.
Gugu said, “We’ve had to explain ourselves to our business partners, so it’s not had a good impact on business.”
“Our sponsors are concerned about us when incidents like these occur, and we are doing the marquee. People don’t want to worry when working with you, so they want to see what you have to say. It’s not about the strain between us, she said. It’s about how you safeguard the business relationship.
Gugu was speaking of this July’s Hollywoodbets Durban Afrotainment Marquee.
