After giving birth to her first child a few weeks ago, Marise Pollard, the wife of Springbok flyhalf Handré Pollard, recently opened up about motherhood.
Motherhood, according to the Springboks WAG, is an incredibly rewarding but difficult experience.
Being a mother has always been my goal. Although difficult, this is the best thing I’ve ever done. The most utterly wonderful thing I have ever loved is becoming a mother. It’s amazing, challenging, fulfilling, and transformative.
Marise observed, “Everything changes, especially how you see yourself and the world around you,” when discussing the transformational impact of motherhood.
Marise in the aftermath
Marise talked candidly about her weight loss and postpartum recuperation during an Instagram Q&A session with her followers.
The mother-to-be mentioned that she gets asked “on a daily basis and not always in a positive light” about how she dropped weight so quickly after having baby.
“To start with, everyone experiences postpartum depression; therefore, it’s crucial to practise self-compassion and prioritise one’s mental well-being,” she stated.
“I have not done anything,” she went on. It was quite difficult for me to be unable to exercise when I was pregnant, and I haven’t done so since. The act of breastfeeding has itself felt like a training curriculum. I won’t go into detail about the various difficulties I’ve had with my PP journey here. It has been difficult.
Marise stressed the following advice to other new moms: “Don’t compare or shame anyone because you don’t know what they’re going through.” Give your child your whole attention. Take care of your psychological well-being.
Relocation intentions to South Africa
Marise also disclosed her intention to return to South Africa eventually.
“South Africa is our home and we intend to raise our children here,” she declared.
When Handré joined Leicester Tigers, a rugby union team based in Leicester, England, in 2022, he moved to the United Kingdom, and Marise did the same later.
