On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Dr. Tshepo Motsepe, the distinguished First Lady of South Africa, accompanied her husband Cyril Ramaphosa as he took the oath of office as president of the 7th government.
At the Union Buildings in Pretoria, Motsepe looked chic next to her “Buffalo” while wearing an outfit with a silvery rose pattern.

Ramaphosa was led by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo during the inauguration. There was THAT kiss after the president-elect took the oath, and it went viral on social media.
After giving his wife a tender kiss and taking a seat, Ramaphosa turned to face his spouse, with whom he laughed.

The First Lady of SA and her accomplished siblings
The oldest of seven children, Motsepe was raised in the Northwest province’s Mathibestad after being born in Soweto.
She is the daughter of the late Chief Augustine Butana Chaane Motsepe and the sister of mining tycoon and millionaire Patrice Motsepe, who both own the Mamelodi Sundowns.
In addition, Bridgette Radebe, the sister of former energy minister Jeff Radebe, is married to the president’s wife.
An accomplished expert
After graduating from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery, our First Lady went on to the esteemed Harvard School of Public Health to pursue a master’s degree in public health with a focus on maternal-child health and ageing.
She also finished the Gordon Institute of Business Science’s Certificate Programme in Social Entrepreneurship (GIBS).
Motsepe has experience working at a number of hospitals, such as Zimbabwe’s Parirenyatwa Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
She chaired the Gauteng Health Department’s Accreditation Committee in addition to working with the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute.
How Cyril and Tshepo met
In 1996, Motsepe and Ramaphosa got married.
The third wife of the president is the doctor. Ramaphosa was married to Hope Ramaphosa from 1978 until 1989, the couple having a son named Andile, and to the late entrepreneur Nomazizi Mtshotshisa from 1991 to 1993.
In a conversation with Pasella, Motsepe revealed that, at the age of 33, her friends arranged for her to go on a blind date with Ramaphosa.
“My friends insisted that I should settle down because I was getting older. In the interview, Motsepe disclosed that he wasn’t his first pick, but rather his sixth.
Ramaphosa and Motsepe are parents to three children.
Tumelo, Kiki, and Mashudu are the names of the couple’s three children.
Their youngest son, Tumelo, is the owner and operator of the upscale butcher shop Studex Meat in addition to being a specialist in cryptocurrency exchanges. Five-star restaurants nationwide receive their meat supply from this butchery.

Motsepe, the benefactor

She is a patron of the Students Sponsorship Programme, the Early Care Foundation, and the South African Civil Society for Women’s, Adolescents’, and Children’s Health.
