After being revealed as Butterfly, media personality Boity Thulo expressed her happiness at being on The Masked Singer South Africa.
“As Butterfly on The Masked Singer South Africa, I had the time of my life.” So amazing to have reached the Top Six,” she stated in a social media post.
Boity was competing in the second season of the singing competition. In her role as Butterfly, she sang a variety of songs, including Paint the Town Red by Doja Cat, Break My Heart by Dua Lipa, and How Will I Know by Whitney Houston.
Butterfly was not eliminated after losing three face-offs and finishing last, but she did win one against Mielie, who turned out to be Bobby van Jaarsveld.
When Butterfly performed Suited by Shekhinha in the ninth show, most fans were very sure that was when Wuz Dat? performer.
“Watching the judges and everyone else, including friends and relatives, try to guess who I am was a tonne of fun! Many of you were just right! This was indeed an unforgettable experience!”Said Boity.
The contest
A panel of four judges—J Something from Mi Casa, Somizi Mhlongo, DJ and singer Sithelo Shozi, and Skhumba Hlophe—as detectives attempt to determine the identity of the singing celebrities hiding behind masks in The Masked Singer.
Every week, viewers and the detectives attempt to unravel the mystery behind the masked singers on the TV programme hosted by the acclaimed comedian Mpho Popps.
When it was revealed that Dineo Ranaka was actually Diamond, she was removed from the show last week.
There are just five celebrities left from the original 16 in the season: Owl, Gold, Giraffe, BoomBox, and Blue Crane.
A wide range of media figures have appeared in the second season, including LaConco (Star) and Dricus du Plessis (Wildebeeste).
SABC 3 airs the show on Saturday evening, and SABC 1 airs a replay on Thursday night.
